A little about me.

Education.

My Name is Nathan Walton and I am a graduate of McMaster University, receiving an Honours Bachelor’s of Music with a Music, Neuroscience and Psychology focus (Music Cognition Specialization) as well as a Performance Diploma in Clarinet Performance, studying with internationally acclaimed clarinetist and conductor Zoltan Kalman. Although trained in the classical style, my musical background is as diverse as my academic interests, playing jazz, pop, electronic music and acoustic. I am also an aspiring academic, educator and clinician, and hope to inspire others through the intersection of art and science.

Experience.

I have enjoyed a wide ranging musical career as a clarinetist, saxophonist and vocalist, playing with many local groups such as the George Rose Big Band (Brantford), Saxation Saxophone Quartet (Brantford), Hamilton All-Star Jazz Band, various area pit bands, Chorus Hamilton, and the McMaster Concert Band, as well as the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Symphony on the Bay (Hamilton), and the Great Lakes Symphony Orchestra, as well as singing with the Camerata Chorialis (Niagara), Brampton Festival Singers, Chorus Niagara, Brant Men of Song, McMaster University choir, Ontario Youth Acapella Chorus (Ontario-wide), and provincial gold-medalist barbershop quartet “Pitch, Please”.

Teaching.

I have also been privately teaching since 2016 and combine my science background in conjunction with my music background to create a multifaceted learning experience that is extremely fun and laid back, but also very inspiring, nurturing and professional. I currently teach with Rockstar Music, Conservatory Canada, and through my own private business.
